Moonlight glinted off golden panels where you worked on one of the solar arrays of your empty space station. These repairs could’ve waited until you’d reached the sunlit side of the darkened planet below, but I only appeared in moonlit reflections.

And you were lonely.

“This is stupid,” I said, echoing your thoughts. I had none of my own, after all.

When you looked at me, the blank, black face of your helmet reflected back at you. “No one left down there to tell me no.”

I shook my head when you shook yours. “There’s no one up here either.”
